| My Experience in the Rider's Edge Class:

LaTasha (aka Hal's Girl) here to talk a little about my experience with the Rider's Edge Course.
The main reason I took the Rider's Edge course was to be able to get my motorcycle license and then in turn buy my own motorcycle. It was very important for me to learn to be comfortable riding on my own and in a group. I had hoped this course would help me with that and I was right!
When I was young around ages 3-8 I would ride with my brothers and dad on the front of our dirt bikes and when I was big enough I was driving myself. After sometime I just stopped and since then I have only been on the back of street bikes with someone else driving. I have always wanted to take the initiative and buy my own and this class has pushed me that much closer to my goal.
The feeling of being on a motorcycle is something I can’t even begin to put into words. It is like being free, feeling the wind against your face and body as you move over different terrains. It is amazing the things seen that you don’t normally notice driving in a car. All together driving a motorcycle is an adrenaline rush and refreshing.
The class was very informative and started right from the basics which is something a lot of people never really learn. It teaches you about the safe way to stop, turn and react in a unexpected conditions. I believe I will become a much better rider as a result of the course.

We have many women riders that work here at Hal's Harley-Davidson! Here's a little inside from the Ladies of Hal's.

I always wanted to learn how to ride a motorcyle. So when I started working here at Hal's it motivated me to get my license. Now, I love riding with my husband. Both of us are comfortable with each others driving and we go at the same pace. Going to a Bed & Breakfast for a weekend makes a really fun trip. For all you new riders, start out on a small cheap motorcycle that you wouldn't care if it fell down, psychologically it gives you more of a sense of ease and you are less scared about scratches and dents, you can relax more when riding. Once you get some miles on and feel comfortable with your riding skills get the Harley you've been dreaming about. Be true to yourself and never try to conform to what others think you should be or do.

Growing up with a dad who not only rode but also built his own chopper gave me my first ride when I was about 5 years old. I've been hooked ever since. My first bike was a Ninja 500. At that time my first thoughts were "I don't care what kind of bike I get.....as long as I get to ride"!! Now, my thoughts have changed quite a bit since then. The question is why NOT a Harley??!!! Keep your bike in good repair: motocycle boots are not comfortable for walking!!

As a teenager I road dirt bikes for fun. But now, Harley...it's the only motorcycle isn't it? No really, because you can customize it like no other. You can certainly make it your own. The possibilities are endless. Some advice to all new riders: Always be aware of your surroundings. Watch out for others at all times and BE SAFE!

I grew up around motorcycles, snowmobiles and 4 wheelers so it was a natural thing for me to want to learn how to ride. I used to ride with my step-dad when I was younger and thought it was the coolest thing! I took the Riders Edge course at Hal's and I've had my license since 2002. I love working at Hal's because of the great staff we have here, we're family. I love meeting people and hearing their stories of the rides they've been on. I also take pride in knowing I've had a hand in helping people get out and ride! For new riders, have fun out on the road but more importantly, be safe!
